ABOUT SUPERVISION
"Great discoveries and improvements invariably involve the collaboration of many minds." Alexander Graham Bell

I have been practicing as a clinical supervisor for six years and have worked in a number of different settings. This has included schools, NHS adult mental health services, grief and bereavement services, and children and young people mental health services.

As your supervisor I am here to provide a supportive voice as you journey through your therapeutic work with your clients. I am here to be by your side. To listen, support, prompt, question, reassure and to offer a holding space when things are really challenging. I consider our supervisory relationship to be an important aspect of your work and I will endeavour to ensure that ours is a safe, open, confidential and reliable relationship.

In supervision sessions I work collaboratively, theoretically, and psychodynamically, exploring what is present consciously and unconsciously for the supervisee. This provides an objective overview of the dynamics present in the relationship and in the setting or institution as well.

As your supervisor we might take a creative approach to the work we do. This is an alternative supervisory viewpoint to consider your practice beyond the traditional form of talking supervision. In practice, I have found this an effective way for practitioners to consider different perspectives to their work. This means that as well as talking about your clients, we may incorporate image work, creative writing, character work, or use a sand tray (amongst other creative approaches). The aim of this is to deepen our understanding of the work with your clients, both on an unconscious and conscious level. This is in turn will offer new insight and illumination in regards to you and your client’s therapeutic relationship.

I offer individual and group supervision and to therapists, counsellors, creative arts therapists, and teachers.
