Nature Reflecting on Crystal Glass

ABOUT ECO-THERAPY

"Nature does not hurry, yet everything is accomplished." Lao Tzu

In today's fast-paced world, it's easy to get caught up in the hustle and bustle of everyday life. As we spend more time indoors, the distance between us and the natural world grows, leading to a feeling of disconnection and imbalance. Ecotherapy is a powerful tool which allows us to reconnect with the natural world and improve our overall well-being.

Ecotherapy encompasses a variety of practices that aim to restore this lost connection with nature and ourselves. Research has shown that engaging with nature can reduce stress, enhance mood, and even boost cognitive function. By fostering a deeper bond with the environment, people can find solace and rejuvenation, counteracting the strains of modern life, and finding an alternative path to meet their emotional needs.

Far more than simply a walk outside, ecotherapy is a nature-based approach to healing that helps us to explore our relationship with nature and feel more connected to it. Ecotherapy is led by trained professionals like myself to facilitate an exploration of the connection between humans and the natural world.

The principle of Biophilia underpins ecotherapy, which is the hypothesis that humans have an inherent bond with nature and natural elements around us. In essence, when deprived or separated from nature we crave that contact.

Over the past six years I have worked extensively in nature supporting both individuals and groups. In a nature based context I have worked with people who are living with and beyond cancer, as well as people who are bereaved. I have witnessed first hand the healing power of nature and how it can support the individual within their therapeutic work.
