ABOUT LGBTQ+

“Owning our story and loving ourselves through that process is the bravest thing we’ll ever do.” Brené Brown

At the best of times it can be challenging to live authentically and confidently, coping with whatever life throws at you on a daily basis. People from the LGBTQ+ community have often experienced discrimination and prejudice throughout their lives, which can impact on their own sense of self and emotional well-being.

Human sexuality and gender identity is unique to an individual. As your therapist I bring no expectations or assumptions to my work with you. It is my role to support you to discover, going at your own pace, where you feel most authentic and at ease through supportive therapy. No two stories are ever the same and I am hear to listen and hear what you need to say as you explore what it means to be LGBTQ+.

Ultimately, I am able to offer you the space to safely explore your identity in an open and honest way, and to discover for yourself what it means to be you.

I have worked for many years with the LGBTQ+ community. Prior to working as a therapist I was part of Stonewall for seven years, lobbying for social change such as the repeal of Section 28,  equal employment rights, and civil partnership. I then worked with Terrence Higgins Trust for another seven years, an HIV and sexual health charity. Since qualifying as a dramatherapist I have worked with many people from the LGBTQ+ community. This has included work with an LGBTQ+ youth centre, adults facing a mental health crisis, and people who were affected by cancer and other life threatening conditions.
